Gun courts are used to speed up the court processing and trial of crimes committed with guns or to mandate training and awareness programs for first-time offenders. Alternatively, stricter probation requirements increasing both supervision and support to young gun offenders can be mandated when they are released into the community. Gun courts for juveniles typically include parent education, intensive community supervision, and community-based services.
